The parent company, DineEquity, Inc. has been franchising since 1960 and has stores in 49 states, Canada, and Mexico. It is a popular eating joint. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and also dinner for the customers.

You need to have at least 1.5 million which is close to $500,000 to start a franchise. Basic business experience is needed to get the approval. The company is not going to help you in financing the franchise. So if you don?t have adequate cash it is always better to consult a bank.

You will be given training in the main office after you get the approval. Strict guideline are followed while constructing the store. The store needs to have place for 185 people. The area population should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000 to 50,000 in the adjacent 3 mile area. If the store is a part of grocery establishment then the size should be 10,000 to 20,000 square feet. The parking space should be fine for your customers.

Owning an IHOP franchise is a good idea if you have both business and restaurant experience. If you meet all the requirements you will get the necessary training. Though the chain will help you with the food and training. You will have to find the employees yourself. You will have to take the interview of the candidates.
