The strength of a base of a chicken house determines the overall strength of the structure. The properties of the soil beneath the structure largely affect the strength of the base. Well drained soils with uniform bearing capacity are standard soils that are recommended in order to support the weight of the structure and the equipment to be installed.

The loads applied on the structure are eventually transmitted to the ground through the establishment of the poultry house. In choosing the type of establishment to put up one must consider the magnitude of the loads that will be applied on the structure.
