The complexity of the horizontal method is one drawback, but this is not very hard to do, so it is still effective and efficient compared to the traditional system. The horizontal system has been found to be more efficient and productive than the vertical system in recent years. The technology for the former method came to be effective during the 1990s, and one oil and gas shale field uses it exclusively.
