Purchasing World Class Imported German Shepherd Puppies From Quality Breeders

By Larry Roberts

There is a wide array of reasons why people want to own pets ranging from having a guard dog to simply wanting a canine for a companion. Some want to purchase pups because they wish to breed them or to enter them into competitive events for show or athleticism. Anyone wishing to acquire world class imported German Shepherd puppies had to take a few extra steps when deciding which breeder to use.

This quality of dog is rather difficult to obtain so potential owners should use caution so as to not become victims of breeder scams. Quite a bit of research is to be done before deciding to enter into a contract as this is an international purchase. Failing to follow all the steps in the process could have horrible consequences like the pup not quite being up to standards, or paying money but not receiving any animal in return.

Choosing to buy a dog of exceptional quality from another country is not an endeavor one should enter into without being fully informed on both the process and the dogs. One needs to research what qualities are standard for these animals to perform well in shows or used for the purposes of pure breeding. It is also important to completely understand what to expect at each step in the journey from contacting the breeder to having the puppy flown in and registered.

The initial step is becoming knowledgeable of general breed specifics and how the foreign pups different than the domestically bred ones. Looking into the specific bloodline of the puppy and the results produced of earlier litters of the same pairing, is important if the goal is to compete in shows. Potential owners would benefit from knowing common attributes of shepherds.

Pet ownership means committing to care for the dog for its entire lifetime, making it imperative that interested parties understand the expected responsibility. Not only will they need to train it for basic expected behaviors, be aware of common personality traits and health risks, but also take care of its normal daily requirements. Even if meant for competition, they will still be normal pets when not showing or training.

Once one is sure that this is the breed for them, it is time to search for a breeder. Breeders are the people who choose which male and female to mate to produce the best quality offspring, based on the bloodlines of the adult dogs. While there are an abundance of respected breeding facilities, there are some that are of bad character and need avoiding.

A breeder may be found via multiple avenues. Examples include using those recommended most by kennel clubs, searching the internet, and joining breed specific forums online to talk with others with experience in the matter. Whatever way one chooses, it can not be stressed enough just how imperative it is to make sure the breeding facility is thoroughly vetted.

Things to check with all breeders is whether they offer any health guarantees, cost breakdowns, how prior clients rate their experiences, and how long they have been breeding these dogs. As this is no minimal financial investment, it needs to be given serious consideration. This commitment could last fifteen years or more.
