Driving Truck
Jake Turner had been driving diesel for 20 years and had never learned how to read. Growing up in the deep forests of Virginia, he had always had a love for the winding roads and agriculture. Now he prided himself on driving some of the biggest rigs in the nation.
Justice. Optimus Prime understands what is fair. In our limited human perception, he could be compared to King Solomon. His innate desire to do what is right and stand up for the underdog makes him the sort of character that can be relied on even in the most difficult of circumstances. Even though he understands his superior intellect and strength, he never uses that against the humans he has decided to defend.
Second, the World Cup. The magnanimity of the Word Cup, somehow lost on most Americans, can be experienced everywhere else across the globe. Germany, for example, shuts down during every match they play in. Stores close, streets and subways are deserted, and excessively long breaks are taken at work. But the pubs, Olympic stadium, and World Cup tents are teaming with red, black, and yellow life. The beer flows freely and even the dullest people become passionate. The World Cup equals passion.
Reading was just not something that Jake could ever understand. The weird symbols all smashed together would give Jake a frightful headache. He had diagnosed himself with severe dyslexia even though he never knew for sure.
Power. Everyone knows that Optimus Prime is strong. His power doesn't just show up with the mere fact that he is big. Much of it comes from within. Optimus Prime has an extreme devotion and determination to get the right things done as soon as possible.
Second, fiberglass slivers. This was a curse we humans brought upon ourselves. Fiberglass is absurd material should never ever be used where people are likely to touch it. When used properly, fiberglass has its strengths. But whoever decided they should build children's swing sets out of it was clearly out of his/her mind. Those tiny, invisible, painful slivers have ruined the temporary happiness of many, many children.
Jake readily accepted the assignment and went off to his new truck. This was the beginning of his trek across hundreds of frozen acres to bring supplies to a company that was isolated from most of humanity. It was on this trek that learned how to fix a diesel particulate filter, prepare grizzly bear meat, and how to warm his toes with the cigarette liter.
While others may criticize Optimus Prime for failing in some aspect, his actions are always for the right reason. When the diesel emissions of fear and death circle around the largest Autobots, Optimus Prime stands tall with courage and we will always be able to rely on his e

About the Author:
When the California Air Resource Board's diesel emissions regulations first came out, Michael Schwartz, current President of FleetServ, started getting calls from panicked Fleet Managers looking for straight-forward information and compliance assistance. While FleetServ (formerly known as ACT Compliance) was originally formed to meet this need, over time it has evolved into much more.
