Finding Serenity With Porcupine Mountains Camping

By Pamela Johnson

Life was not meant to be lived indoors. However, humanity does live indoors. But that was not always the case. They used to live on the outside. They moved from place to place, just trying to find a way to keep on surviving. They ensured that survival by hunting and gathering. Of course, in the modern day, people no longer move about. They live away from nature. But they can always reconnect with Porcupine mountains camping.

There a number of reasons to go camping. Some campers may want to reconnect with the natural world. But then some people camp not because camping is the experience in and of itself, but because they are going something else that requires them to be away from civilization.

With any activity, there is going to be some equipment that is needed. A painter needs brushes and an easel, not to mention the paint itself. So a camper will need some things like a tent, to sleep in, and a sleeping bag, to make that sleep a little bit more comfortable. Now, there is also going to be some other things that are going to have to be packed in the bag, like a compass and a knife. Plus some matches, because a fire will be needed, and a flare, in case the position needs to be made known.

There are things that can be done to avoid the worst. First of all, beaten path may not seem all that exciting, but the road less travelled can lead to things like bears. The last thing any camper wants to see is a hungry bear, the single most powerful terrestrial predator currently extant.

Animals can be rough. Which is why a fire is needed. Nocturnal predators will avoid lit areas, as they are generally ambush predators who like to surprise their prey without having to confront it directly. Fire is a great way to ward off animals.

It is also important to get the lay of the land. That is not metaphorical. That is literal. The geography should be learned. Just in case one gets lost. If one does get lost, then it would do well to know where one is in the word.

But knowing the location will be pretty useless without the ability to read a compass. The thing is that directions are necessary to know. So the ability to read a compass is an absolute necessity when camping, just in case one gets lost.

The most useful tool in the arsenal is the knife. Ask any survival expert, they will all say the same thing. That the most important tool to have is a knife. That is because anything can be done with a knife. Digging, cutting through the brush, and especially self defense. Nothing has as much versatility as knives do, so a dagger should be part of the arsenal when packing for a camping trip.

Living was not meant to be easy. But humankind is nothing if not stubborn. So it made life easy. But there are those who want to make it less so, to experience the intensity that comes with adversity.
