The Spray Tan Formula Is The Next Best Choice To Beach Tanning

By Haywood Raptis

Tanning beds have been the solution for several decades for those seeking that beautiful bronzed skin look. Research however, has shown that this is not the healthiest approach to tanning one's skin. Tanning beds will still emit dangerous ultra violet rays that can cause fatal melanomas. A better choice is the spray tan technique.

The recommended alternative to acquire a beautiful, even tan is to visit a salon that offers a spray tan system. This is achieved inside a tanning booth where a series of spray tan nozzles emit the tanning formula onto the front of the body first. You need to stand in a certain spot the right distance from the tanning source for about fifteen second, then turn around and allow your back to be sprayed as well. The arms need to be held up so that the spray will also reach the sides of the body.

First and foremost, you need to exfoliate your skin. Dry patches of skin will not hold the tan for long so that once the skin falls off, there will be a light colored area. Use a good exfoliant and spend some time scrubbing your face and those extra dry areas such as the knees and elbows.

Use a shower cap to cover your hair leaving the hairline and ears exposed to the spray. Then cover areas like the finger nails, toes, soles of the feet and palms of the hands with a barrier gel that will prevent deeper staining. The tanning salon will more than likely supply you with the gel since we don't use this under any other circumstances.

Once inside the spray tan booth it is also advised that you wear eye goggles as well as a nose plug. These are simply additional safety features that will ensure that you will not have any damage to the eyes or to your respiratory system. Then, follow the audio instructions for sprey tan by waving your hand over the start button.

The nozzles will discharge a fine mist of the spray tan formula. This process will only last about 15 seconds. You must keep your arms raised to ensure that the sides of the body will also get covered. When the spray tan is turned off, you then turn around and repeat the procedure remembering to place the hands in front of you with the palms facing your chest.

Once the spray has stopped you can then exit the booth and remove any excess stain by lightly rubbing with a towel. Wear loose clothing so that it will not rub on the newly applied spray tan. Wait about seven hours for the stain to set before taking a shower.

A safer alternative to the tanning beds is the spray tan in a booth option. The spray tan does not have the harmful ultra violet rays that tanning lights have and the process is less expensive. You can treat yourself to that sun kissed look more than once a month without worrying about any negative effects on your body.
