How Carbonless Printing Helps You

By Kate McMahon

Oftentimes there is a need to generate carbon copies of many business and other documents. It is most likely needed when data being put into the form is done so using a mechanical tool like a typewriter of if handwritten. This used to be done with the use of carbon paper which was inserted between pages of each copy resulting to a carbon copy. This is a very tedious task and can often get messy or result to lacking information because the carbon paper got displaced. This can all be avoided by the use of carbonless printing paper.

This sort of paper is known commonly in the printing industry as NCR or No Carbon Required paper. It is the easiest way to generate carbon copies of a form without the hassle of using carbon paper. This is particularly helpful for business forms like receipts, invoices, or any form that need carbon copies. NCR can make several copies without the use of traditional carbon paper.

NCR paper does this by the use of a dye that coats the back side of the preceding pages. Once it is written on, the dye transfers to the next sheet thus creating a copy. This also avoids the smudging of the user's hands like the way carbon paper does. This results to a cleaner copy. Since these forms may be produced with rubber glue binding or stapled, alignment is also never a problem.

Up to 5 copies can be generated using NCR forms. This is necessary when issuing receipts, invoices or other types of forms. You can generate carbon copies without the trouble normally associated with using carbon paper.

The use of carbon paper always presented a bother. First one had to insert a piece of carbon paper between every page that needed copies. Inserting carbon sheets between each page and making sure that they stayed aligned could not be done quickly. Carbon paper would often stain fingers resulting to smudges when the user handled the copies. Using carbon paper is therefore quite inconvenient.

You can customize your NCR forms as well. They can be printed with your corporate logo and even individual serial numbers. Most printers that offer NCR paper forms can easily do this for you. All you have to do is specify your requirements.

There are instances when there is a need that each copy is of a different color. This is not a problem because there are several colors of NCR paper. Receipts are the most common form that would require this as each copy goes to a particular recipient.

It is so much more convenient to use carbonless printing when there is a need to make copies of documents. It is always clean since the user does not stain his fingers as carbon paper often does. All your forms come out clean and very presentable. All elements are properly aligned to where they are supposed to be. It is highly unlikely that a flawed copy is generated because of misalignments. It is very easy to find suppliers for forms like this. They can be customized in look and the number of copies to be generated.
