Baby High Chair

By Darren Hartley

A baby high chair comes in very handy once a baby is ready for solid food. It gives a child a safe place to experiment with new tastes and textures. It makes it easy for a parent to supervise meals and clean up afterwards. High chairs come in a wide variety of styles and prices.

While a basic safe baby high chair can do the job, the more expensive variety may pay off over time. High-end models do a better job of growing with the baby, effectively holding up to wear and tear. It is advisable to pay attention to size and to the space constraints of a home in the selection.

The hook on baby high chair attaches to the table, instead of being freestanding. It can free up space in tight homes, is transportable and can cost less than basic high chairs. It comes in models that are portable, attaching to a regular chair seat with straps.

A baby high chair that does not include a tray needs to be pushed up to the table. Some high chairs come with trays that do not come off. The most convenient choice would be a high chair with a tray that easily detaches and fits in the sink or dishwasher for cleaning.

The wheels of a baby high chair make it easy to move it from room to room, from the kitchen to the dining room. Therefore, it is best to make sure that these wheels lock in place for accidental rollaway protection.

A buckle in a baby high chair that is too shallow or simple to operate can easily be undone, even by the pressure of a baby's tummy. Harness straps must be adjustable to accommodate a growing baby. The high chair must carry the seal of approval from the JPMA a.k.a. Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association.
