Facts Being Debated About Grammar School Examinations

By Lucia Weeks

A person has basic needs and becoming educated is one of them. For this, there are various systems being introduced for the optimum effectiveness of teaching the kids. There are those that fare well but then there are also others which have sparked several contradictions. One example would be the grammar schools that are only existing today in some parts of London.

There have been numerous controversies surrounding the existence of the system because it divides the society according to talent and brains. The only children who are ever going to get free admission are those who would score high during the grammar school examinations. However, there are also good things and objectives on why it was created in the first place.

It is important that you know the most important points about the debate before you make your own stand. In this regard, here are some of the cons and pros that you can make as basis. It would be good to read through them first.

There will always be poor people. And because education these days does not come for free, it would be hard for them to attain this without having to spend too much. But because the grammar institutions are free, they can gain access to it and have the best and highest quality of learning. But of course, you have to be certain that they can pass the standards.

Consequently, they would get the best trainings for the career that they could take on in the future. And when you come from institutions with this kind of reputation, you are expected to do well. And it would not be impossible for a child to have a future as an elite.

Talent and skills are two things that are required if you ever want to gain a spot in these institutions. And when these are the types of students that they have, they also make it a point to have a system designed to fit the needs of the children in order for them to improve in their respective areas. You will see that each year, their skills are raised a bar.

Most of the opposition would criticize the system when the only aim that it has is to develop and give the children a better future. One advantage of reviving it is a curriculum that focuses on the needs of the kids. This is not something that can be said for other schools.

Those who oppose does not seem to think that this is the best educational solution. This is because of the fact that it will only make the division between the statuses wider. And when kids are introduced into this type of society, they will think of it this way, abandoning all concepts of equality. There will be stereotyping. And this can be degrading for others.

Those individuals that are not well off will be lucky if they have kids that are bright and talented. But this is not always the case. There are those who are not gifted with this type of chance. And if this is the case, the gap between those who are poor and those who are doing well with their life will become wider.
