Touching Down With A Heliport

By Catherine Reynolds

Reality dictates that the laws of physics must be followed to the letter. Every action will have an equal and opposite reaction and all that. Now, despite the fact that humanity has advanced so much in what most people can only assume is a relatively short time, humankind is still bound to reality. At no point in its history has it been able to evolve past the boundaries set by physics. All the technological marvels created by humanity are bound by the laws of nature. Even humans took the skies and slapped gravity across the face the laws of nature were still in play. For all its achievements, man is still subject to the natural forces that control the world. Consequently, all the machines man has made in order to fly need to find a place to land eventually, which is why a heliport is a thing.

They are any places where helicopters are supposed to land. Generally speaking, they are flat strips of space, anywhere the skids can find purchase. They can be located in a variety of spaces.

Helicopter owners need helipads in order to land their vehicles. Because the vehicles are not perpetual motion machines, they eventually need to be grounded. A helipad provides a place to do that safely.

The fact of the matter is that a helipad does not even have to be a proper helipad. Any place with a flat surface can be a helipad. Now, a proper helipad is going to need markings, concrete or steel to form the landing platform, and lights in order to facilitate nighttime operations. The fact of the matter however to an entity that is seriously considering helicopter ownership, the costs of a helipad will be incidental.

Helipads can appear basically anywhere. Generally speaking, corporate helicopters will be plopped down on the tops of tall buildings, right on the summit. A ship can have a designated helideck, particularly a military ship carrying choppers for either logistical or tactical purposes. Most private and commercial airports will also have a space designated for helicopters.

Private citizens use helicopters to bypass traffic. Even executives hate waiting in gridlock. Those with the means to do so can use a helicopter to travel. They can also be used for aerial city tours.

Government services also use choppers extensively. Emergency services use them in order to transport personnel and supplies. Militaries use them for a lot of the same purposes, but also use them to provide air support for troops on the ground. Law enforcement will use them for the same reasons as the military.

Vehicles rarely even come cheap. A specialized vehicle like a helicopter definitely is not going to come cheap. Even a basic chopper with no amenities can cost a small fortune.

Gravity is one of the four fundamental forces of the universe. The three others are strong interaction, weak interaction, and electromagnetism. Now, as the weakest of the four fundamental forces, gravity does not exert any considerable level of influence at a subatomic scale. By contrast, on a macro scale, gravity exerts a tremendous amount of influence. It makes planets orbit the sun, it makes the moon orbit the Earth. It is what gives everything on earth its weight. It is what makes objects with weight gravitate towards each other. As such, the things that go up invariable gravitate back towards the ground. In other words, what goes, must come down.
