For Assisted Living Seattle Is Worth Visiting

By Kevin Taylor

Assisted living residences exist to provide the old and physically incapable people who are not able to care for themselves with proper care. As the elderly receive the care they need from these facilities, their loved ones get the time to live their lives and do other activities. Thus, they are a perfect option when there is an elderly person in the home who need care. Modern residences are quite improved and give the best care. When in search of Assisted Living Seattle should be given priority.

The homes are different in very many ways. For example, some of the homes have flats which they give to residents whereas some have rooms. The rooms offered may be private or not. A majority of the institutions include social areas such as outdoor patios, entertainment areas, and large dining areas. Social areas provide residents a chance to meet and socialize with one another.

Assisted living facilities are not the same as traditional apartments because residents are not tied by a lease agreement and regular lease periods. In assisted living facilities, residents pay rent on a month-to-month basis. That means that one can leave any time they want. However, most facilities require a 30-day notice to be provided before one can leave.

There may however be an exception to the notification rule if the resident is ordered to transfer to a higher level facility of care by a nurse. Such an order can be provided if the resident needs more medical care based on their increasing need for better or more comprehensive healthcare. In such a case, the resident does not need to provide the assisted living facility with prior notice before transferring.

Part of living in the assisted care homes is that residents are helped to follow medication regimes. If a resident requires medication, it is ordered, stored, and given to them as prescribed by the doctor. This is done by the staff of the facility. It is not advisable to remind a patient to take their medication but in case it is found necessary, then the reminder can be provided by the staff.

All residents of the facility are usually provided with food. Most facilities provide three meals per day. This food is catered for in the rent that residents are required to pay. However, the residents are allowed to forego meals given by the facility for food from other sources. In this case, they are exempted from paying for the cost of food.

Not all facilities however allow residents to take meals elsewhere. In fact, some require residents to take at least three meals in a day. Whether the resident takes their three meals in a day or not may not affect how much they pay at the end of the month a lot. The meals that are provided are usually highly nutritious because old people need to stay strong and healthy.

Residents are regularly offered transportation to medical appointments. The transportation offered might be restricted to a certain distance from the facility. Nearly all facilities have special days on which they offer transportation to medical appointments. In case the appointment falls on a day that the facility does not offer the service, one may have to pay more for the facility to transport them.
