Simple Methods To Clear Up Your Living Area

By Lilian Graham

When your belongings begin to feel like an occupying force in your own home, it may be time to clear out the clutter. There are easy and commonsense ways to take back your home and make sure it stays clean and clear.

One's clothes can be a particular burned. If you have more clothes than is sensible, then now may be an ideal time to wade through it and get rid of the things you no longer wear. Remember, there may be many people out there who would love to wear the things you don't anymore.

It goes without saying that you can give these articles of clothing to friends or family members, but don't forget your community's social service organizations, such as Goodwill, Salvation Army or your local church or homeless shelter.

Now, you could find yourself with as much as a quarter more space in your closet - and in your life.

Loose odds and ends can also be a significant source of household clutter. Whether it's decoration, such as frames and pictures, or practical items like flashlights and batteries, they don't need to occupy every flat surface in your home.

Gather up all of this stuff and pack it away and out of sight. Once you have cleared all of these belongings out of your main living space it will be much easier to make the sorts of hard decisions that need to be made about your home and its decor.

Finally, you may find you have to deal with the big stuff: the furniture. If your space is still cramped, you may want to sell or donate larger items, such as couches, chairs or tables.

An obvious solution is to sell the bigger items blocking your space. The bigger the item, the more space it will clear out. Ultimately, this will provide you with a better quality of life and a better home to live in.
