How To Fight Insulin Resistance So You Can Get In Shape Faster

By Katherine Crawford

Although weight loss is ultimately controlled by caloric intake, hormones to play a strong role. And insulin resistance can disrupt your hormonal weight loss mechanisms.

The bad news is that many people do not know how to manage insulin resistance.

Thus, here is how to win a battle against insulin resistance:

1. Lift weights at least twice per week: This is the best training modality for reversing the ill effects of insulin resistance. You see, weight lifting will actually change the surface of your cells in such a way that insulin resistance is mitigated.

2. Eat more legumes and beans as your primary source of carbohydrates: You see, legumes and beans digest much slower than whole grains. Thus, legumes and beans are a more insulin-friendly source of carbohydrates.

3. Avoid meal replacement powders: You are far better off getting your nutrition from whole, natural foods. You see, powders digest much faster than regular food. Thus, powders and meal replacements can make insulin resistance worse.

4. Cover half of your plate with vegetables: This may sound extreme, but it's a great way to bring digestion as low as it can go. You see, vegetables are so bulky and have so much fiber that they do a great job at reducing levels of blood sugar.

5. Have portion controlled meals: You want to make sure none of your meals are too big. You see, a big meal is more likely to spike your blood sugar. And once this happens it will be very hard for you to get that insulin resistance under control.

6. Don't drink calories: Drinking calories is a surefire way to gain more weight and to make insulin resistance worse. You see, liquid calories get digested too quickly. You are far better off sticking with whole foods only. This is the best way to get in shape and reverse insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance doesn't have to be a nail in your weight loss coffin. As long as you take action on the advice here you will be just fine!
