Buying an Excavator

By Curtis Turow

When you are shopping for the sort of Kubota excavators for sale Roswell farmers and land employees rely on, a number of factors can affect what you buy and where. There are different sizes available, with some possibly more fitted to your own situation than others. Buying thru a top notch dealer can be helpful because you'll get expert advice.

The most important factor in your choice is the dimensions of the machine. Compact and mini-excavators are often used on farms and in smaller areas. Standard excavators can be used also, and are frequently found in building and construction areas. Even among compact models, sizes can differ a good deal.

To figure out the size of the gear you want, first look at how you intend to transport the machinery. A mini-excavator presents fewer issues, since you could tow it behind standard pick-up. Bigger machines and other methods of transport can mean you'll need commercial licenses for towing, flatbeds and other additional steps.

Additionally, have a look at the area where you plan to be using it and its landscape. The standard excavator could weight 40 or 50 tons or even more. Mini-excavators generally fall in the 2 to 6 ton range, though they can go above that. The heavier the machine, the more damage can be done to the ground it travels over.

An excavator's reach is how far it can horizontally reach. Be sure that you select one with a reach that's as long as you want. The dump height is the height it can lift to in order to dump the load. This will reach up to about 20 feet, though some models may not have that range. The dig depth is simply how deep the bucket can dig. This often ranges up to 25 or 26 feet. Be sure you choose a model that can go as deep and reach as high as you want.
