Do you look at the wonderful meals your friends and family members make and wonder how they do it? The helpful tips in this article can help anyone become a great cook.

If you are going to use fresh herbs, such as dill or parsley in your meal, put them together to form bunches and use scissors to cut them. They will be light and fluffy, and won't have the wetness that chopping would give them.

Save the delicious taste of summer by drying tomatoes yourself. Try slicing a Roma in half lengthwise, or cut larger tomatoes into 1/2 inch slices. Place on a cooling rack, cut-side up and lightly salt them. Place the cooling rack on a cookie sheet and dry in a 190 degree oven for up to 10 hours. You can then freeze your tomatoes in Ziplock bags. You can also pack dried tomatoes in a jar with fresh herbs and olive oil. Place in the refrigerator and consume within two weeks.

In your journey to cook more meals yourself, utilize the library or local bookstore in acquiring cookbooks. Target simple books with simple recipes that make you comfortable. Try your hand at some of the recipes, remembering that patience is key during the learning process.

Many times your burgers can stick to your grill and it could be nearly impossible to free them without destroying them. Consider brushing the grill with vegetable oil before cooking to prevent food from sticking to the grill.

Tough preparation is one obstacle that sometimes prevents people from getting all the health benefits of dark, leafy greens. Separating the stems can try anyone's patience. An easy way to do this is to crease the leaf lengthwise, then simply break out the stem. You can use a knife as well to trim the stem from the folded leaf. Simply open up the leaf now and enjoy greens that are free from stems.

You should save some water from the pan in which you cooked the pasta so that you can add it to the pasta sauce later. Measure out one quarter cup of water, and put it to the side. When you are ready to mix your sauce and pasta together, incorporate some of this water. Starches present in the retained water can contribute to a creamier sauce when combined.

If you start applying some of the advice contained in the tips above, you can improve your cooking skills very easily. Now you just need to go put on your apron and start cooking! Your dishes will be delicious and sure to please everyone.
