Examining How The Electronic Cigarette Has Evolved

By Lilia Yates

Electronic cigarettes have become increasingly more popular in the last few years, and they still manage to grow in their overall popularity even to this day. This may be due to a number of different reasons, but it often sparks the interests of many people, particularly when it comes to the history of these devices, how they work, and how they might benefit or typically compare to other methods of smoking, even if the devices and e-liquid themselves may differ in several different ways.

Although most people might find it hard to believe, the original e-cigarette was actually invented by a man named Herbert A. Gilbert during the 1960s. However, the dangerous side effects about smoking wasn't yet known as much nor were studies performed as often in order to make people publicly aware of the dangers. As a result, the device never really took hold at the time.

What could be considered as the more modern prototype of this device was actually developed by a pharmacist in China, who is known as Hon Lik. He invented the device in 2003, where it was introduced to the market within the following year. The company he worked for later worked toward exporting the devices several years later.

Although Lik's device slowly became embraced by the public, it only became more popular as other companies and models jumped onboard. As the concept evolved into something greater, more and more people finally took to the idea. Since then, it has evolved both when in regards to its mechanical aspects and the way people view the device itself the sd keyring being a good example.

Previous models tended to vary when it came to overall convenience, which is why so many people feel that they've come quite a ways ever since. Many of the devices currently, in fact, are often considered more convenient, effective and safer in general.

In the past, some individuals had problems with older devices misfiring in their pocket or at other inconvenient times. Naturally, this posed as a potential fire hazard, putting people off the idea altogether. Fortunately, many manufacturers have since added a number of safety features, such as an off and on switch. Some may also feature a button that has to be pressed a certain number of times in order to use the device.

The manner in which these units are powered has also drastically changed in some ways. Many people are finding that they appreciate having longer-lasting batteries and improved methods for charging a number of units. As an example, business-goers, travelers, or people who are on the constant go appreciate ones that can be charged via a USB port.

Electronic cigarettes have also managed to evolve when in regards to be socially accepted over the years. In the past, lack of awareness had a few people raising an eyebrow. However, more and more people are starting to appreciate the idea of fewer side effects being involved, especially when they're compared to traditional methods of smoking. Those who are fearful of secondhand smoke also tend to worry less as well.
