Golf GPS Vs Laser Range Finders

Golf laser range finder is a gadget which enables the users view through its viewfinder to enable them to properly focus on the golf for any other target. This device is capable of letting you obtain genuine information about the distance to the intended target. Some advanced laser range finders were created in a way that the user can make adjustments of the reading of the distance based on the slope between user and target point. Other devices have adjustable temperature and altitude.

Like many other people you might want to known whether the golf laser range finder can be legally used by many golfers at the golf course. After the USGA Decision 14-3/0.5, laser range finders that measure the distance only BUT NOT temperature, altitude, ground or other aspects can now be utilized so long as the Local Rules authorize that use. Note that USGA is an abbreviation for United States Golf Association.

Currently most US golf courses have adopted the Local Rule that allows golfers to use golf laser range finder that measures the distance only. You should however note that there are several golf clubs that disallow the usage of such devices. If you are taking part in a tournament you need to inquire whether the laser view finder and possibly other GPS devices are permitted.

In respect to the conditions and effect of the USGA Handicap System Rule 14-3 and Decision 5-1f2, if golf players use golf laser range finder or another GPS gadget that measures only the distance should post the scores even if the respective Local Rule permits the usage of such gadgets for that purpose.

The United States Golf association handicap Rules offer specifically that those devices that can be adjusted for slope or altitude are not allowed in tournaments. They are also not allowed in the round that is posted to handicap of the gold player. The foregoing notwithstanding, you can use the golf laser range finder to measure the uphill or downhill slope between target and user in which the golf ball is expected to travel till it reaches the target.

There are many advantages of the golf laser range finder which makes it superior to most other GPS devices. First, it is very highly precise with accuracy of +/-1 yard. Secondly, it gives specific distance between false prints, sections and pin on green. Thirdly, it provides accurate reading of range to any placement within golf hole so long as there is nothing that prevents its view. The device is also capable of providing slope between player and target; golf players are however not permitted to utilize the golf laser range finder for this purpose.

What are some of the down sides of the golf laser range finder? First, the device needs clear unobstructed view if it is to provide accurate readings. In this sense, it might not be very helpful to you if you have blind approach. Second, the laser readings of the gadget are negatively interfered with by dark light, bright light, rain, fog and anything else that disrupts the air clarity. Third, you must have steady hand if the device is to provide readings that are precise.
