Use paint made for touching up appliances to cover up flaws on ceramic tile. Did you chip one of your tiles moving furniture? This type of paint will make it look almost as good as new. It dries hard with a glossy color that is hardly distinguishable from the surface of the tile itself.

Your kitchen is an excellent place to begin your home improvement projects. Start with the walls; if there are grease stains, mix up a 2 to 1 solution of TSP and water. It will get rid of the grease and also remove much of the paint. Re-paint the kitchen in tan colors; you will be amazed at how much different your room will look as soon as you are done.

Organize your home by bottling up your yarn and other delicate craft materials. Two liter bottles like those soda come in are great for storing practically everything. Remove the label, cut a slit down the side and insert your skeins or balls of yarn! Pull the loose end through the top and replace the cap to secure it.

Make your home more energy efficient by putting weather stripping around your windows and doors. This very inexpensive fix from the hardware store, will seal out the hot or cold air and make your heating and cooling system much more effective. Wallpaper borders are no longer as popular as they once were. However, you can add nice designs to your wall without them. Buy some stencils at your local craft store in a theme that matches your home decor and paint them in a line on your wall where normally the wallpaper border would go. This creates a nice visual effect for your eyes to follow in the room.

Sealing air leaks is an inexpensive way to improve the energy efficiency of your home. Unsealed cracks and openings are one of the leading causes of heat loss in the average home. Common problem areas include around doors and windows, around pipes, wires and ducts that lead outdoors and around recessed light fixtures. Use caulk to seal small cracks and expanding spray foam for larger gaps and openings.

Replacing a roof can be one of a homeowner's biggest expenses. Get estimates from at least three roofing companies and be sure to check their references. There are many options for new roofing material, including lightweight tile and metal roofs, in addition to the more traditional wood shake and composite shingles. A good roofing contractor will help you decide.
