Brazil is a country that is rich in history and culture. Visitors who come here experience a vacation that is not easily forgotten. The capital city of the state of Rio Grande Do Sul, Porto Alegre, offers breathtaking landscapes, historical museums and an exciting nightlife. Porto Alegre City in Brazil is the 10th largest city, by population, with over 1.5 million people.

There are many things to see and do in this populous city, and it may be difficult to pick just a few. The Central Public Market is a must-see attraction; the building opened in 1869 and offers an incredible architectural design. The market sells a variety of foods such as fish, fresh fruit, and ice cream parlor and several restaurants.

Kids and adults alike are sure to enjoy the PUC Science and Technology Museum. There are many exhibits and hands-on experiments that will let everyone explore and learn, especially the earthquake simulator. Take a quick break or stop for lunch at the cafeteria located on the grounds.

Another activity on your itinerary should include a Rio Guaiba boat cruise. This guided tour will amaze you with the vast landscapes and scenery. Going through the western portion of the city, you'll ride on to IIhas do Lage, where the most amazing beaches await you.

The Metropolitan Cathedral is a site that can't be missed. The Renaissance-style building was started in the 1700's but was not actually completed until 1986, due to a number of interruptions. The two front towers are 50 meters high and the building itself is 80 meters long and 47 meters wide, making it an impressive structure.
