Put It On Subscribe And Save - Family Values Book Critique

By Isaac Bennett

Again, this is radically opposed to the currently fashionable nonsense about free markets and free trade. Doubtless it will appeal to some who have succumbed to its premises. The rest of the book continues in this vein. She spares no words in demeaning or trashing everything from American Idol to our President. Instead it read to me like a pamphlet distributed at a college campus political rally, not anything substantive that would electrify conservatives or give birth to a movement, much less have any meaning on a world stage. While it is worth a read to get an updated view of Palin, I think it is a missed opportunity for her to be substantive and reach a bigger, more thoughtful mass of the electorate.

If so, she is MY parrot and a lot of true American patriots will buy this book for her unabashed belief that people who live in glass trailers shouldn't throw beer bottles. Either Palin didn't read her own book or Jessica Gavora, the ghost writer, wrote things in a "satirical" sense that Palin didn't understand. I have read the many mean-spirited attacks of Sarah Palin by people here that claim to have read the book. One person even said she read it in less than four hours. You must finish high school. You must marry before, not after you have a child. Our "rights," as American citizens, come from our written Constitution and its expressed ideals, not from "God." She bad mouths even Ronald Reagan, George Bush I & II, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and of course President Obama.

This book is a stimulus package that helps convince Americans that their faith and their works can propel our country past the present economic and social difficulties. When you read this book, you will meet a brilliant politician with very definite opinions about where we are at today as a country, and where we should be going.

It matters, but as the pot slowly heats up, few realize that it will eventually boil. What does the term FREEDOM really mean?

I would also be interested in actually reading this at some point, instead of listening to it. I was going to read the book but I got it off Audible.

This Manichean picture of the world could be continued, but I'll spare the details. Palin believes that she wants to take America back to the pristine love of freedom of the Founders. Her enthusiasm for this great country is contagious, her love for life so tangible, that you can't help feeling uplifted and proud to be an American. She quotes and reflects on speeches and writings of other great Americans who have inspired her and touched her life. Why buy the book when you can just listen to the same old whine-fest by turning on the TV to Fox? To be fair, I've only read the first chapters but that's about all I could handle. Her idea of what a true American is should be taken with disdain by anyone who didn't even realize they were doing anything wrong in the first place. I feel as though I lost 30 or 40 IQ points reading this book.

She diligently recognizes America's contemporary and historical faults (such as the institution of slavery), but is simultaneously able to highlight our country's underlying, unique ideals of freedom and limited government. The Governor demonstrates a clear understanding of our country's foundation and gives the audience hope of a stronger and healthier America that, as long as it adheres to the values as set forth by our Founders, will once again prosper.
