Design TIps In Decluttering Homes With Toddlers

By Anthony Walker

Living in a condo with children poses an unusual type of challenge for homeowners. Along with a commonly limited space, these young families also need to grapple with twice as much belongings but half as much space. Compared with a bachelor with spare furnishings occupying the same amount of space, a growing family has a lot of housekeeping to do indeed.

One could do many space-saving strategies to make the most out of these scanty condo spaces: combine beds with sofas, or else get one of those bunks whose lower portions are used as cabinets or office spaces. But with toddlers running around the house, parents often find it almost impracticable to clean up, since toys seem to find their way back to the floor each time regardless of the attempts to tuck them inside the basket for a while.

And so the biggest concern of a young household is not just saving space; it is about decluttering it. How can you manage to maintain orderliness in a place that seems to draw the opposite? Follow these tried techniques.

Assign a play area for your toddlers and stick to this. You may install physical border lines to illustrate your point. Kiddie fences would achieve this purpose quite well, and keep in mind to stick to your rules lest you give your kids the mistaken sense of liberty, to the peril of your whole home.

Steer clear of using glass and opt for wood and other non-breakable items instead. Use this concept to your tables, shelves, and decor. The more you decorate your house with fragile materials, the more accidents you draw.

Avoid putting cloth over tables and other furniture as well. Tablecloths and the like can readily pose risk to your toddlers once they unknowingly pull them down. Similarly, curtains are not recommended with toddlers around.

Use rugs sparingly. Like curtains and tablecloths, rugs can easily put your kids in danger during playtime. If you must, carpets make a way better bargain.

Child-proof your kitchen and everything else in it. Don't put stools and other platforms nearby to keep them from using these to get to the cupboard and reach for random items. Keep glasses, knives, as well as other fragile and sharp objects in tightly closed spaces.

Position your home appliances and outlets where they're not easily reached. Double check that wall hangings are securely in place too.
