By Chloe Gib

Many different issues can occur with plumbing today. From the need to have new water lines installed to having a leaking faucet, home owners face many different challenges today. Learning how to save money on some of these tasks can be very helpful when you are trying to balance your budget.

For a task such as unclogging a drain, there are a number of different tools that you might use. First you probably will try one of the many chemicals that are available at a local retail store to free whatever is causing the clog. If this is ineffective you will probably try a drain snake.

When you need a drain snake, you can find one at your local retail store usually. They can be rented as well. This is a coil of wire that you uncoil with a spool that forces the clog to move by pushing it or pulling it. Depending on the material, it might need to be pulled out through the opening rather than forced through.

A leaking faucet will be a simple fix when you have the right tools as well. You have to have a wrench that will fit of course. You also need to find the shut off for the water whether it be a main valve or there are multiple individual valves for various items.

Repairing or replacing a faucet or shower head is actually a very easy task. You will simply remove the old one and replace it with a new one. When repairing one you might need things such as o-rings or sealant tape to stop a leak as well.

There are many different tasks that a person can call a plumber for today. Plumbing is a part of household repairs that many are beginning to do on their own instead of hiring help. Most of the work is very simple to perform and can be quickly accomplished with a few tools.
